Typical applications
Prescribed night guards and other occlusal management cases.
Custom occlusal splints for dentist-directed applications.
Hard occlusal splints are removable, typically rigid appliances prescribed for selected occlusal management needs, including protection of teeth or restorations in patients with clenching or grinding. Their working surface is designed around the clinician’s requested jaw relationship and contact scheme.
Unlike a simple whitening tray or retainer, a hard splint may need carefully planned flat contacts, canine guidance or other specified functional anatomy. Appliance thickness, retention, opposing-arch records and the final adjustment process should be agreed before manufacture.
Confirm arch, requested splint design, jaw relationship, bite registration, minimum thickness, contact scheme and any special adjustment instructions.
Clinical indication and wear instructions are clinician determined.
